What the law requires
Law 36/2024/QH15 makes operating a motor vehicle in road traffic without the required driving licence a prohibited act. The licence, the international permit and conversion are covered in Vietnam driving licence for foreigners. The police checks, the fine bands and the moped rule are in Riding without a licence: fines, and registering a bike you own in Register a motorbike. New to the city? First week checklist covers the paperwork side of the move.
Not confirmed: The per-kilometre rate of a Mai Linh or Tien Sa meter is not published; the meter in the cab sets the fare. Be carries no published Da Nang fare.
