Circular 87/2026/TT-BCA, Điều 9 khoản 1
Day one: Airport to city, cash and a SIM

Taxi. Taxis wait at stops just outside the arrivals hall. After leaving the restricted arrivals area, go straight or follow the signs at pillar 3 in the public arrivals area. The taxi pickup is at the second traffic lane, and dispatch staff there can help you book a taxi.
The pickup point is the same for both terminals.
Bus. Route 06 started running on 25 January 2026 with electric buses. It enters the airport and passes both terminals, in both directions. The airport’s page lists the fare as VND 15,000 for less than half the route and VND 22,000 for the full route.
More options are in the airport-to-city guide.
Cash you carry in. A person entering or leaving Vietnam by passport through an international border checkpoint, carrying cash above the thresholds, must declare it to customs. The thresholds are more than US$5,000 in foreign currency, or the equivalent in another currency. For Vietnamese dong, the threshold is more than VND 15,000,000.
Details and fines: cash declaration guide.
SIM card. A foreign national registering as a mobile subscriber presents a passport that is still valid for use in Vietnam. Validity is measured under the entry visa, or under the maximum stay allowed to visa-exempt nationals. An electronic identity account is the other accepted option.
Steps: SIM registration guide.
Day one: Register your temporary residence
A foreigner staying in Vietnam must declare temporary residence through the person who directly manages the accommodation. The declaration goes to the commune, ward or special-zone police, or to a police post or station, where the accommodation is located. Have your passport ready at check-in.
Before agreeing to let you stay, the accommodation must ask you to show your passport, or another valid international travel document, and your residence papers.
For a paper declaration, the accommodation fills in Form NA17 and hands it to the police within 12 hours of your arrival, or 24 hours in remote areas.
Full process: temporary residence registration guide.
Day two: Cash from ATMs
VietinBank’s fee schedule, applied from 16 November 2025, charges a card issued by another bank 4% of the amount, minimum VND 80,000 excluding VAT, per ATM cash withdrawal. The system applies it automatically to Visa, Mastercard and DCI cards issued abroad.
BIDV’s ATM table sets a maximum of VND 5,000,000 per withdrawal for a Visa, Mastercard or JCB card. For a NAPAS, UnionPay, APN or LaoVietBank card, the maximum is VND 3,000,000 per withdrawal. For both groups, the daily maximum is set by the card’s issuing bank. Other banks: ATM fees guide.
Days two and three: Tap water, emergency numbers and storms
Tap water. Vietnam’s national clean-water standard, issued with Circular 52/2024/TT-BYT, does not apply to water drunk directly from the tap. It also does not apply to bottled drinking water or to water from filter jugs and filtration systems. Read the tap-water guide for what local tests found.
Emergency numbers. Call 113 for the police. Call 115 for a medical emergency. More numbers: Da Nang emergency numbers.
Storm season. In 2024, the national forecasting centre said typhoon and tropical-depression activity was likely to concentrate from October to December in the Trung Trung Bo and Nam Trung Bo regions. See the typhoon season guide.
Days three and four: Health
Hoan My Da Nang Hospital, at 291 Nguyen Van Linh Street, Thanh Khe Ward, Da Nang City, states it is open 24 hours. Its phone number is +84 23 6365 0676. Hoan My says its new VIP Medical Centre offers dedicated assistance in English, Chinese and Japanese. Other hospitals: hospitals and clinics for foreigners.
Health insurance is mandatory for a foreign employee who works under a fixed-term labour contract of 12 months or more with an employer in Vietnam. The exceptions are an intra-company transferee, someone already at retirement age when the contract is signed, and cases where a treaty Vietnam has joined provides otherwise. Details: health insurance for foreigners.
Days four and five: Getting around
Riding rules. If you hold an international driving permit issued by a Vienna Convention member, you must carry it when driving in Vietnam. You must also carry a valid national licence issued for the matching vehicle class.
A fine of VND 2,000,000 to 4,000,000 applies to riding a two-wheeled motorbike up to 125 cm3 with no licence, an expired licence or an unsuited licence. Rules and conversion: driving licence guide.
Renting a bike. Gia Huy, a Da Nang rental shop, lists the Yamaha Sirius 110cc at VND 100,000 per day on its price list headed “2026”.
A deposit on leased movable property, such as a rented bike, is called ky cuoc in the Civil Code. If the property is returned, the lessee gets the deposit back after paying the rent due. Prices: motorbike rental guide.
Bus. The ViBus site at ecobus.danang.gov.vn is a bus-route finding system. Routes and fares: Da Nang public bus guide.
Days five and six: Housing contract
A housing contract is as the parties agree and must be made in writing. It must include, among other items:
- the full name and address of each party;
- the price, if the contract sets one;
- the payment term and method, for a sale, hire-purchase or lease;
- the handover time and the lease term;
- each side’s rights and obligations;
- the effective date and the signing date.
Ending a lease unilaterally requires at least 30 days’ notice, in writing or another form the contract agrees, unless the parties agree otherwise. Guides: rental contract and rental deposit.
Day six: Home internet
FPT’s FAQ states its initial installation cost is usually VND 299,000, covering connection and setup labour plus a free Wi-Fi 6 modem and service activation. FPT says the fee can vary slightly by area or promotion. It also states that no deposit is required in advance. Compare providers: home internet guide.
Day seven: Check your visa end date
An e-visa is valid for a maximum of 90 days, for single or multiple entries. Resolution 44/NQ-CP gives citizens of its 12 countries 45 days of stay from the date of entry, provided all Vietnamese entry conditions are met. Write your last permitted day in your calendar. For the rules, see Vietnam e-visa, visa exemption countries and how to extend a visa in Da Nang.
