The address is 119 Tran Phu, Hai Chau, Da Nang. An older portal page, last edited in 2018, also gives 119 Tran Phu Street.

What to see and buy at Han Market

The portal says the market sells shoes, clothes, bags, fabrics and souvenirs. It calls the market famous for hand-sewn Vietnamese ao dai.

The market operator’s page also calls it famous for ao dai made to order.

The portal adds that the market is famous for food products, fresh seafood, fruit, fish sauce and local dried foods typical of Da Nang and the Central Region.

An older portal page, last edited in 2018, lists these specialties: Ly Son garlic, chili paste, dried rice crackers and dried squid. It also puts fruit stalls at the front of the market.

Another portal article says the market sells almost everything, from essential necessities and clothes to spices, dry goods and fabrics.

Two floors, laid out by category

The portal says the market has two floors on an area of 3000 m2. Its kiosks are laid out by category of goods.

Who Han Market suits (and who should skip it)

• Souvenir shoppers. An older portal page calls it a good place to buy Da Nang souvenirs before heading home.
• Ao dai buyers. The operator’s page calls the market famous for ao dai made to order.
• Food-product buyers. The portal lists fresh seafood, fruit, fish sauce and local dried foods.
• Visitors who want a traditional market. An older city directory says visitors from developed countries come for the feeling of buying, bargaining and looking around.
• Skip it if you plan to park a car outside. The January 2024 traffic plan allows only stops of up to 5 minutes on Tran Phu in front of the market.

How to get to Han Market

The market is at 119 Tran Phu, Hai Chau, Da Nang. Open in Google Maps.

The portal says the market is in the city centre, near the Han River swing bridge. Its four sides run along Tran Phu, Bach Dang, Hung Vuong and Nguyen Thai Hoc streets.

By bus

DanaBus route 02 has a stop named “opposite Han Market (opposite 122 Bach Dang)” on Bach Dang street, in its return-direction stop list. Route 21 lists a stop opposite 122 Bach Dang in its return-direction stop list.

Their outbound stop lists include Rooster Church (opposite 151 Tran Phu) on Tran Phu. Route 02 charges VND 8,000 per trip for up to 10 km, for adults other than students. Fares and other routes are in the Da Nang public bus guide.

Stopping and parking (January 2024 plan)

The January 2024 traffic plan set a sign on Tran Phu in front of the market that bans stopping and parking, with stops of up to 5 minutes allowed.

The same plan gave Nguyen Thai Hoc (Bach Dang to Tran Phu) a lane on the market side for passenger coaches to stop for up to 5 minutes. It also set aside motorbike parking on the roadway there.

The plan also put a pedestrian crossing on Bach Dang right in front of the market gate.

When to go and how long

The market is open 6h00 – 19h00 daily. Route 02 runs 5h15 to 18h30 and route 21 runs 4h45 to 17h30.

Both bus routes end before the market’s 19h00 closing, so plan your ride back around those times.

An older portal page, last edited in 2018, gives a visit duration of one hour.

Nearby and how to combine it

• Da Nang Cathedral (Rooster Church): 156 Tran Phu. The portal says it was built in 1923, is nearly 70 m tall and is in the Gothic style.
• Han River Bridge: Le Duan Street, Hai Chau District. The portal says it is very easy to walk there from Han Market, about 10 minutes.
• Con Market: 290 Hung Vuong, Vinh Trung, Hai Chau, open 7h00 - 19h30 daily. The portal says it has an indoor food area, a dry-goods area and an outdoor space.
• Dragon Bridge: from a city-centre hotel, the portal says to head to the end of Tran Phu Street, where the bridge is on the left on a one-way road. Show times are in the Dragon Bridge fire show guide.

Not confirmed: The portal says the market has two floors with kiosks laid out by category, but not which goods are on which floor. No official page gives a parking fee, and the January 2024 traffic plan is the newest parking text found. No official page says whether stalls take cards or whether prices are marked. No official page gives the best time of day, crowd levels or Tet holiday hours beyond the 6h00 – 19h00 daily listing. An older city directory lists a different street number from the portal's 119 Tran Phu, so check the Maps pin at the entrance.
