Which visa and card the spouse and children get
LĐ2 goes to a foreigner working in Vietnam who needs a work permit. LĐ1 goes to one confirmed as not needing a work permit, unless a treaty provides otherwise. The family of either holder is covered by the same clause.
TT - Cấp cho người nước ngoài là vợ, chồng, con dưới 18 tuổi của người nước ngoài được cấp thị thực ký hiệu LV1, LV2, LS, ĐT1, ĐT2, ĐT3, NN1, NN2, DH, PV1, LĐ1, LĐ2 …
The TT symbol goes to a foreigner who is the spouse or a child under 18 of a foreigner issued a visa marked with one of the listed symbols, the two work symbols among them.
Law 47/2014/QH13 as consolidated, Điều 8 khoản 18
A TT visa is valid for up to 1 year. A foreigner temporarily residing in Vietnam who qualifies for a TT visa is among the cases listed for a temporary residence card (TRC). The card carries the same symbol as the visa.
A TRC marked TT is valid for up to 3 years. The holder’s own LĐ1 or LĐ2 card is valid for up to 2 years. A holder may sponsor a spouse or child under 18 to live with them within the card’s validity, if the organisation that invited or sponsored the holder agrees.
Who files and where
The inviting or sponsoring organisation or individual files the TRC dossier itself. It files at the immigration office where the organisation is based, or where the individual sponsor lives.
Cơ quan, tổ chức, cá nhân mời, bảo lãnh trực tiếp nộp hồ sơ đề nghị cấp thẻ tạm trú … tại cơ quan quản lý xuất nhập cảnh nơi cơ quan, tổ chức mời, bảo lãnh đặt trụ sở hoặc nơi cá nhân mời, bảo lãnh cư trú
The inviting or sponsoring organisation or individual files the TRC dossier directly at the immigration office where the organisation is based or the individual lives.

The Da Nang office is at 78 Le Loi Street, Hai Chau, Da Nang. It is open Monday to Saturday, 7:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-5:30 p.m.. It is closed on Sunday. More on the office: Da Nang Immigration Office.

The applicant collects the card in person at the provincial immigration office with the appointment slip, ID and receipt, or by post on request.
Documents
The dossier has four items:
- The sponsor’s written request, on form NA6 for an organisation or NA7 for an individual.
- The TRC declaration form with a photo attached, form NA8.
- The passport.
- Papers proving the applicant falls under a case in Article 36, clause 1.

Examples of such papers are a work permit, a confirmation that no work permit is needed, or other papers that prove the conditions are met.
To be recognised and used in Vietnam, a foreign document must be consularly legalised, except in the cases in Article 9 of Decree 111/2011/NĐ-CP. Documents are exempt when a treaty or reciprocity provides for it. They are also exempt when Vietnamese law exempts them.
